Voting age to 16

If the voting age were to be lowered to 16, the curriculum should include compulsory education on politics, as most people of our age either don’t understand it or don’t understand it well enough, or simply don’t care, but teaching it would give students a reason to want to know about it. If we do not understand the effects or implications of different things then we shouldn’t be aloud to vote, but if we are informed then it’s only right that we should have the opportunity to have a say. Voting isn’t compulsory, so if people don’t want to get involved then they don’t have to

Why the contribution is important

It’ll make a big difference

@samanthakitt - thanks very much for taking the time to share your view on this discussion board! What sort of themes or topics should be covered as part of a politics and citizenship subject?

Also, do you have a view on how those who don't receive their education in a traditional school setting (for example, those who are home schooled) should be taught about politics and citizenship?
