Transport of live animals for slaughter outside the UK

We here in Wales should prohibit the transport of live animals for slaughter outside the uk.

Why the contribution is important

Because there is no maximum 8 hour journey time for live animals under EU law and I believe the EU is soft on animal welfare abuse.

An EU "Animal Transport Certificate" is no guarantee that farmed livestock will be humanely cared for when being transported on journeys over eight hours long.

Also reduces the risk of the transmission of infectious diseases - ban should be applied in both directions. More work for Welsh slaughter houses too.
