Regional Identification of Goods

To ensure that people are aware that a food item has been made in Wales, using Welsh materials on Welsh land by Welsh people, the Government to seek to introduce a Made in Wales image that can be placed on items provided every part of the manufacture of that item was within the confines of Wales (in a similar spirit to the Welsh Lamb campaigns currently ongoing)

Why the contribution is important

In a post EU world, I believe that people will want to lean more about nations that are not part of the European Union and therefore identifying items as Welsh will help promote those items more

This is only good if there is plenty of produce from other countries on the market. Currently there is plenty of meat "proudly" marked as British, but where is any alternative? Personally, it feels a bit nationalistic to me to support the producers only from someones place of birth. For a better world in future, I think, we need to be interested in well being of food producers (and everyone) globally.

Thank you for sharing your idea and comments!

Your ideas and priorities are now being used to help the Committee write its report on how we can develop principles to underpin a new agriculture and rural development policy for Wales. For more information, please do contact me @ celyn.cooper@assembly.wales. I’ll also make sure to update the pages and this thread to keep you updated as this progresses.

Your ideas and priorities have also been a great support for the Committee as it invited representative organisations and bodies to come to the Senedd and give oral evidence on the future of agriculture in Wales.

Of interest, the Committee is also undertaking a number of other inquiries at the moment that may be of interest. You're more than welcome to contact me directly, or visit the Committee's webpage for more information on how to get involved: http://www.assembly.wales/en/bus-home/committees/Pages/Committee-Profile.aspx?cid=444
